Are there many Chinese in private high schools in Canada?
Some do! Experience tells us that different students need different schools. What you need to know is:
English is the only subject that you need to pass no matter which province, university or college you choose to major in. Therefore, you cannot avoid English requirements by choosing a province and graduate from high school as soon as possible.
English is divided into ESL and English as Second Language versions. If you want to study English with local students, you need to be qualified in local English to graduate from a Canadian secondary school. You cannot graduate in ESL. Therefore, what grade should a student consider in a Canadian secondary school and the English level at that time will affect the school configuration.
Canadian public high schools have a maximum of 2 semesters a year, each semester is 4 months, but some private schools have 3 semesters a year to speed up your English tutoring and complete English requirements. Therefore, for students whose English proficiency is different from their age, private middle schools can help them graduate on time.

If it is a Canadian public secondary school, applying earlier usually has a better chance of successful admission, because Canadian public secondary schools admit students on a first-come, first-served basis, and they reserve a 10% quota for overseas students.
Some Canadian boarding schools will fill up their seats for the coming year in October. Students applying for Grade 9 (i.e. Form 3) are more likely to succeed because they think Grade 9 is the first year of Canadian high school.
If you go to Ontario to study in middle school, it will be easier to get into Ontario universities, because Ontario universities have 70-80% of their places to recruit graduates from the province. Only 20% of places are available for all non-Ontario secondary school graduates or overseas students.
Therefore, even if you do not have a Canadian passport, if you choose to study high school in Ontario, it is easier to enter Ontario universities such as the University of Toronto than through DSE.
To be honest, this depends on the student's English proficiency when studying abroad and the grade level he/she is applying for. Schools with more international students have rich experience and resources to help students improve their English proficiency. If students who are studying in Chinese middle schools want to go to Canada to study in grade 11 (i.e. Form 5) or above, they should actually consider schools with many international students and learn more about the school's supporting facilities and cases of successfully helping international students enter Canadian universities. Maybe they can work with each other.
Canadian university and Canadian community college courses usually require a minimum IELTS of 6.0. Therefore, if you go to a Canadian middle school to study in grade 11 (that is, Form 5), it is best to have an IELTS of at least 5.5. If you want to know your English level, you can go to Maxway Education for an English assessment.
