Study in the UK

British school types and admission requirements

British universities and private middle schools are very popular among Hong Kong students because the admission time of British universities coincides with the release of Hong Kong DSE results, and British private middle schools have school rankings based on public examination results for students to refer to when choosing a school.

UK Universities

The application deadline for British universities is generally June 30 each year, and international students need to submit IELTS scores to apply.

If Hong Kong students go to the UK to study some popular majors, such as engineering, veterinary medicine, nutrition, optometry, surveying, social work, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physiotherapy, actuaries and radiotherapy, they can return to Hong Kong to practice without taking exams after graduation. More importantly, it is easier to apply for these majors in the UK than in Hong Kong.

British Secondary School

Students who want to go to high school in the UK should plan their studies abroad a year in advance.

British secondary schools require students to pass entrance tests and interviews, and admission is based on the student's age. It is recommended that Hong Kong students apply to go to the UK to study in Grade 9 of secondary schools after completing Secondary 2, because the competition for applying for GCSE (Secondary 4 and 5) and A-level (Secondary 5 and 6) is relatively fierce.
