Public universities in Hong Kong basically offer Mainland admission scholarships to reward students with excellent college entrance examination scores and outstanding performance in admission interviews. Winners of this type of scholarship are uniformly evaluated by relevant university departments, and applicants do not need to apply separately.

Some universities offer a small amount of mainland admissions scholarships to support applicants whose families have special financial difficulties. Applicants need to be evaluated by the relevant university departments to determine whether to receive financial aid after being admitted. Bursaries must be applied for on their own, and applicants must provide proof of financial status to the school for review.
