American High School

American high schools are grades 9-12 (equivalent to F.3-F.6 in Hong Kong). The United States does not have a unified high school graduation examination like Hong Kong's HKDSE. If students want to apply for college, they can take the international learning ability assessment test SAT/ACT.

There are three types of American middle schools, namely public schools and private schools. (Private Day School) and boarding school (Private Boarding School). When international students apply for these three types of American high schools, they need to take an English proficiency test or present standardized test scores, such as SSAT.

American University

Students can study for a degree from an American university in a variety of ways, such as Community College, International Year One, or Direct Entry, all of which guarantee that students will obtain a university degree in four years.

Community colleges are the most economical springboard to obtain a U.S. university degree, because some of the top public universities in the U.S. provide a large number of guaranteed admission places for in-state community college graduates, and the overall tuition is as much as half cheaper than directly attending university.

The first-year credit course is suitable for students who apply to prestigious American universities in the second semester of Form 6, because the application deadline for first-year credit courses at these prestigious universities is May every year.

Direct admission to an American university is more suitable for those who are well prepared in all aspects. The application deadline is from November each year to mid-two years of the following year.

The above methods for studying in the United States have different entrance dates and have different English proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS) requirements for students.
