In recent years, the development of innovation and technology has been a topic of great concern in Hong Kong:

     · The national "14th Five-Year Plan" promulgated last year has established Hong Kong's role in the overall development of the country. role and important functional positioning, which proposes the goal of developing Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology center.
He also described Hong Kong as having "no future without innovation and technology".

Talent is the key to the development of innovation and technology. The shortage of innovation and technology talents has been a problem that has plagued the development of innovation and technology in Hong Kong for many years.

Although the government has launched a number of measures to actively recruit innovation and technology talents from around the world, in the long term, it is necessary to streamline Hong Kong’s innovation and technology talent training system and strengthen the systematic construction of STEAM education for Hong Kong youth. The "fundamental solution" to solve Hong Kong's I&T talent problem.

 What exactly is STEM or STEAM mentioned in major newspapers?

STEM education is the abbreviation of the four categories of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and STEAM means adding elements of art.

 Therefore, STEM education has received increasing attention in the past 20 years and has become the focus of global education. Related courses have also emerged and gradually spread to the United Kingdom, China, France, South Korea, Taiwan, etc. land.

 It is different from traditional subjects. In addition to focusing on interdisciplinary knowledge, it pays special attention to training students' logical thinking, problem-solving ability, application of innovative skills, collaboration ability, creativity and other abilities. Students can cope with the changes and challenges brought about by rapid economic, scientific and technological development in future society and the world.

 The Hong Kong government has invested a lot of resources. In addition to the one-time subsidies of NT$100,000 and NT$200,000 mentioned above to primary and secondary schools, schools can also apply for an additional Quality Education Fund of up to NT$2 million. Subsidy; it is even mentioned in the new Budget that the government will implement the "Secondary School IT Innovation Laboratory" program in the next three school years. Each subsidized secondary school will receive NT$1 million to purchase the necessary equipment. It provides information technology equipment and professional services, organizes relevant extracurricular activities, etc., so that students can deepen their understanding of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, etc.

However, schools have different approaches to how to use these resources:

 Because STEM does not have a fixed teaching curriculum scope, some schools have already integrated STEM into regular courses. It has become an independent subject, and some are integrated into general knowledge and computer courses;

Some are extracurricular activities arranged for one or two hours after class, hoping that through activities, students can move from learning to "hands-on" ( Learn to do) to "learning by doing" (learning by doing), and then through students' active reflective thinking (reflective thinking) to understand the relationship between things or activities, so as to master relevant abilities.

 In order to enhance students' interest and motivation, most activities are designed to "allow students to design and formulate specific and creative solutions to daily life problems", trying to bring the application of knowledge closer to themselves and society.
